I enjoy camping. My equipment includes a large wall tent and a marine cooler filled with traditional lanterns. I was tired of the bulk of the lanterns and their fuel. I grew weary of replacing globes, mantles and bulbs. The large interior space of my tent made the existing small LED lanterns useless. I was impressed with the power of the newest generation of LED flashlights but their light was directional. I noted that all lanterns were designed with all the breakable and bulky components of traditional lanterns. I guess the theory was “if it doesn’t look like a lantern, nobody will buy it”.
I spent the 2009 camping season designing a different approach to lighting. The result of my effort is the FlashLantern.
I invite you to give it a try.
